Christmas 2010

Well...our first Christmas went by without anything majorily significant...you know...ham, salads all the normal foods.  (there are a heap of piccies on FB)  The kids sat on Santa's lap - an African Santa but Santa nevertheless!  Presents were opened but they were perhaps not the same things kids in Australia were opening!  Kids received Masaai thongs, jigsaws, books and only a few toys.  They were blessed with some DS's from all the Plumb family so they were STOKED...did I mentioned stoked?  No I mean STOKED AS!!!

Toys were difficult to find here in Arusha...there are definately lots - but most of them are cheap and nasty and wouldn't last a week.  I felt reluctant to spend money on them so in then made an executive decision to take the kids on an outing to a much anticipated Snake Park about 40 minutes out town.

For all of you who gave us money to purchase things for the kids...it was instead spent on this day.  The kids absolutely LOVED it and have often mentioned it since.  It was a special treat to be able to get out and enjoy the day together looking at things we enjoy...

So thank you everyone for a wonderful day enjoyed by all!!  I hope you enjoy the piccies!!!

WOW!!  Check out the size of the skeleton!!  WOOOOOAAAH!

The camel rides were definately the highlight of the day although the getting up and getting down caused a gasp of fright from all of them!!

Amber was a good big sister and stepped into help Tahlia...

 Patting the Tortoise...
 COOOOOOL AS!!!

Visiting a museum about Massai life was fascinating...the kids got to learn alot about the different clothes worn, traditions, animals etc...

Getting a look inside one of the 'Bomas' or mud hut still used today...it was interesting to see how they use every bit of space so efficiently...

Hello Mr Masaai Man!!!
